Our Story

The first Potter Valley Rodeo was held in 1946 and although there have been quite a few changes along the way our rodeo continues to be a highly anticipated local event. The Potter Valley Spring Festival and Rodeo is a major fundraiser for many of our local non-profit organizations such as the Potter Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Potter Valley Elementary and Junior/Senior High Schools, 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, Potter Valley Youth and Community Center, and our local churches.

This year will mark our sixth anniversary at the new Main Street location, conveniently situated in downtown Potter Valley. Since the rodeos inception, the community has transformed the three-day Spring Festival and Rodeo event into one of the best in northern California. This success is largely due to the huge support of our community and the generosity of our local businesses and sponsors. The Potter Valley Spring Festival and Rodeo is put on by an all-volunteer committee.

PVCPR Logo-01For the past six years we have been working closing with the Potter Valley Community Parks and Recreation (PVCPR) to create a community facility or all to enjoy. As a result of our close ties the Potter Valley Community Expo, Inc. decided to merge with the PVCPR in order to concentrate our efforts and become a stronger community organization. We continue to use all profits from the Potter Valley Spring Festival and Rodeo to fund various scholarships as well as the continued development to the property. Future plans for our community property include landscaping for the park, front gates and a pedestrian sidewalk for the entrance.

Along with producing the annual rodeo, we hold the Lisa Christofferson Memorial Gymkhana and Playday Series in honor of our friend Lisa Christofferson who was tragically taken from us in 2003. Proceeds from this event go toward the Lisa Christofferson Memorial Youth Scholarship Fund. This fund was set up to assist local youth with expenses related to various extra-curricular activities such as camps, sports, 4-H and various types of rodeo and livestock clinics.
