| POTTER VALLEY RODEO |
Potter Valley Community Expo, Inc. is a all volunteer non-profit organization that was formed
in 1976. Since then the annual rodeo has been produced at various locations around the valley.
In past years our organization has assisted in funding various projects for the Potter Valley
Private School, Potter Valley Elementary School and Potter Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
Currently the proceeds we receive from the Memorial Day Weekend go back to the community
through various projects in Potter Valley and through yearly scholarship opportunities
available to graduating Potter Valley High School Seniors and local youth.
Currently, the majority of profits we receive from the Memorial Day Weekend festivities go
toward the development of the Potter Valley Community Parks and Recreation property. This
property is not only the location of our current rodeo grounds, but will also have a community
building, county park and softball/soccer fields. Our dream of having a permanent rodeo
grounds, in addition to a centralized location for our youth and community members to use and
enjoy, is slowly becoming reality as we continue our fundraising efforts.
Along with producing the annual rodeo, we hold the Lisa Christofferson Memorial Gymkhana
and Playday Series in honor of our friend Lisa Christofferson who was tragically taken from us
in 2003. Proceeds from the August event go toward the Lisa Christofferson Memorial Youth
Scholarship Fund. This fund was set up to assist local youth with expenses related to various
extra-curricular activities such as camps, sports, 4-H and various types of rodeo and livestock
clinics.
